BBQ BAIKAL EXPORT CENTER BECAME A PARTNER OF THE XVIII FESTIVAL OF CLASSICAL MUSIC "STARS ON BAIKAL"
The XVIII International Festival "Stars on Baikal" by Denis Matsuev will be held in Irkutsk from September 5 to 14. Concerts will be held at two venues: the Irkutsk Regional Musical Theater named after N. M. Zagursky and the Irkutsk Regional Philharmonic. The founders of the festival are the Government of the Irkutsk Region, the Ministry of Culture and Archives of the Irkutsk Region and the Irkutsk Regional Musical Theater named after N. M. Zagursky.
— The festival "Stars on Baikal" is a famous tradition of Irkutsk. It was born in 2004. And all these years thousands of spectators have been coming to classical music concerts. It's always a holiday for them. This year the festival will be held in the traditional extensive format. It will run for ten days and will attract famous performers and orchestras, — said the Governor of the Irkutsk region Igor Kobzev.
— I am glad that this year we will meet again in Irkutsk. The Stars on Baikal Music Festival has already confirmed its international status for the eighteenth time, inviting musicians from all over the world, including from the UK, USA, Germany, South Korea, and bringing together classical music stars of different generations on one platform. We continue to introduce new names and works to the Irkutsk public. Music is a universal language that unites us all. Such classical music stars as Vadim Repin, Pavel Milyukov, Alexander Ramm will come to us. Among the soloists there will also be laureates and winners of the Tchaikovsky Competition of previous years, including yours truly," added Denis Matsuev, artistic director of the festival.
For the 150th anniversary of S. V. Rachmaninov, the festival has prepared a program that includes a large number of the composer's works, both popular and infrequently performed. So, on September 9, Irkutsk residents will hear a concert performance of S. V. Rachmaninov's outstanding work – the opera "Aleko". The concert will be attended by the Russian National Youth Symphony Orchestra conducted by Dmitry Yurovsky and the Choir of the Krasnoyarsk State Opera and Ballet Theater named after D. A. Hvorostovsky. In the second part of the concert Denis Matsuev will perform "Prometheus" (Poem of Fire) by A. Scriabin.
Conductor Yuri Bashmet will bring to Irkutsk the author's version of "Fantastic Carmen" — a musical and dramatic production based on Bizet's opera "Carmen" and Shchedrin's "Carmen Suite". It will be performed on September 13 by the New Russia State Symphony Orchestra.
Denis Matsuev, the artistic director and founder of the festival, is a world-famous pianist who was born in Irkutsk and loves his hometown and Lake Baikal very much, organizing various events with the participation of world stars here.
