John Dimitri Negroponte is an American diplomat. He iscurrently a James R. Schlesinger Distinguished Professorat the Miller Center for Public Affairs at the University ofVirginia. He is a former J.B. and Maurice C. ShapiroProfessor of International Affairs at the GeorgeWashington University's Elliott School of InternationalAffairs. Prior to this appointment, he served as a researchfellow and lecturer in international affairs at YaleUniversity's Jackson Institute for Global Affairs, UnitedStates Deputy Secretary of State, and the first ever Directorof National Intelligence.
